Bridgit Mendler, best known for playing Teddy Duncan on Disney Channel’s Good Luck Charlie, has reached a major milestone in her career outside entertainment. Northwood Space, the satellite communications company she co-founded and leads as CEO, has raised $375 million in Series C funding at a reported $2 billion valuation.
Announced on November 2, 2026, the funding round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and DFJ Growth, with participation from Washington Harbour Partners, Alpine Space Ventures, Stepstone, In-Q-Tel, and other investors. Northwood also secured a separate, multiyear credit facility from HSBC Innovation Banking.
The investment marks a significant step for Mendler’s transition from television and music into the space technology industry. However, the company’s $2 billion valuation should not be confused with her personal wealth. Northwood has not publicly disclosed how much equity Mendler owns, so estimates of her individual net worth based on the company’s valuation remain speculative.
What Bridgit Mendler’s Northwood Space Actually Does
Founded in 2022, Northwood Space is developing ground infrastructure that allows satellites to communicate with operators on Earth. Satellites need ground stations to receive commands, transmit information, and send data such as images and scientific measurements. Building dedicated infrastructure for these operations can be expensive and time-consuming.
Northwood’s approach is to create a shared network of satellite ground stations. Instead of building and maintaining their own facilities, satellite operators can reserve communication capacity through Northwood’s infrastructure.
The company manufactures two main antenna systems. Its Portal phased-array antennas are designed for satellite command and control, while its Prism parabolic dishes handle high-throughput data connections. Northwood also develops the software that allows customers to schedule and manage communication sessions across its network.
CEO Bridgit Mendler explained the company’s broader ambition in its November 2 funding announcement.
“The world is hungry for more data movement through space and that is what Northwood is building for with scalable network capacity for the most challenging use cases,”
she said.
Northwood Plans to Expand Its Satellite Network and Manufacturing
Northwood will use the new capital to fulfil existing contracts, recruit additional employees, and expand its ground station network for commercial, US government, and allied space missions. The company says it has already deployed six multi-orbit-capable sites across two continents since its previous funding round.
It has also opened a 185,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in Torrance, California. The site has increased its manufacturing footprint more than fivefold and is designed to support production of hundreds of antennas annually. Northwood currently employs more than 140 people and plans to add another 400 positions over the next three years.
The expansion follows a major government contract secured earlier in 2026. Northwood received a $49.8 million contract from the US Space Force to support its Satellite Control Network, which helps monitor and command government spacecraft. The company has also demonstrated communication capabilities reaching satellites in geostationary orbit, expanding beyond its earlier low-Earth-orbit work.
The latest investment comes less than nine months after Northwood raised $100 million in Series B funding. The rapid fundraising reflects investor interest in satellite infrastructure as the number of spacecraft in orbit grows and operators require more capacity to transmit information between space and Earth.
Can Bridgit Mendler Become a Billionaire From Northwood Space?
Mendler’s career transition has attracted attention because of her earlier success as a Disney Channel performer. She starred in Good Luck Charlie, appeared in Lemonade Mouth, and released music including the single “Ready or Not.” She later pursued studies at MIT and Harvard Law School before moving into entrepreneurship and co-founding Northwood with Griffin Cleverly and Shaurya Luthra.
However, Northwood’s new valuation does not establish Mendler’s personal net worth. Startup founders typically own only a portion of their companies, and their stakes can change as investors provide additional funding and employees receive equity. Northwood has not publicly confirmed Mendler’s current ownership percentage.
A $2 billion valuation therefore does not mean Mendler personally owns $2 billion in assets. Her shares could eventually become worth a substantial amount if the company continues to grow, but that depends on her undisclosed equity stake, future financing, and the company’s long-term performance.
For now, the confirmed milestone is Northwood’s $375 million Series C round and its $2 billion valuation. Mendler’s move from Disney Channel acting to leading a rapidly expanding satellite infrastructure company is already a notable career shift, even without speculative billionaire or net-worth estimates.
