Jahmyr Gibbs has officially become the highest-paid running back in NFL history after agreeing to a massive contract extension with the Detroit Lions. The star running back signed a three-year, $67.5 million deal that includes $51.5 million in guaranteed money, surpassing the record contract recently given to Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson.
The deal highlights Gibbs’ rapid rise since entering the NFL as the No. 12 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. His contract can reportedly increase to $75.75 million if he reaches specific performance milestones, further emphasizing the Lions’ belief in his long-term value.
Lions Reward Gibbs After Record-Breaking Production
Gibbs’ new contract slightly exceeds Robinson’s extension, with both his guaranteed money and potential bonuses ranking higher. The deal also reflects his impressive production during his first three NFL seasons.
